London String Quartet Week 2006
Masterclasses for Young Quartets
The London String Quartet Foundation has a strong commitment to education and outreach work. Using the genre of the string quartet, the Foundation has developed effective programmes over the years to work with children and young professionals.
LSQF started its Masterclass initiative in 2003, and it has been very successful, as it provides quartet coaching of the highest standard which is not always accessible to all young musicians. As part of London String Quartet Week 2006, Masterclasses will again be taking place. The masterclass leaders for 2006 will include Ioan Davies (Director of Music, Pro Corda - The National School for Young Chamber Music Players), Simon Rowland-Jones (founder violist of the Chilingirian Quartet) and Gabor Takacs-Nagy (founder violinist of the Takacs Quartet)
The masterclasses will take place on Wednesday 5th, Thursday 6th and Friday 7th April 2006 at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
There are a total of eighteen places available for the masterclasses, with a fee of £50 per quartet. If you would like a quartet from your institution to be considered for this opportunity, please complete the application form and return it with your cheque no later than Friday 10th February 2006. Early application is advised, as the masterclasses are always oversubscribed.
